Gareth, who is Chief Entertainment Photographer for Getty Images, became interested in photography in high school. He struggled in every lesson, apart from art which is where he was first introduced to the world of photography. Photography allowed him to make sense of things in a way academic study did not. While he always dreamt of becoming a sports photographer, he fell into the world of entertainment through his first job as a paparazzi photographer, and he hasn’t looked back since.

While it’s a challenge, it’s also extremely rewarding when you create something from nothing.

Gareth’s first ever camera was the Nikon FE10 which he used with the 35-70mm f/3.5 AI-s lens. A few years later, he purchased the D3 soon after it’s launch. And while he has used a fair few DSLR models, Gareth is now an avid user of the Z 9 and Z 8, which he takes to every red carpet and ceremonies he attends.

 

When talking about his Nikon kit, Gareth said: “I trust the kit and believe in it, so it gives me the confidence when I am shooting that it’s going to do the job”.
